16m aluminium sailing catamaran

I am looking to build/have built/project manage a 52' sailing catamaran in aluminium.
Stage 1 is to have the plans and specification produced. I have not commissioned the designer as yet.
I have not had a vessel built before and while I intend to deal with reputable yards and suppliers in Australia - I have no experience in the preparation of contracts and specifications - for either designes or builders.

Any pointers appreciated.

Also any comments regarding the cost to build a 12.5 tonne motor away catamaran in aluminium?

we've currently got a 43' ali sailing cat on the "boards" for a Melbourne client and have a lot of experience with both large sailing cats and aluminium boats. A professionally built boat could cost you anywhere between AUS$500K and $3mil depending on specification and design. feel free to email or PM me for more details.
