Materials/Amounts Needed?

I am finally getting around to restoring my 21' Sangstercraft. I hope this is the correct forum for my questions!

I'm just about to order Glass and Poly Resin for Stringer replacement and to raise the Hardtop.
Here are the dim., that i will be doing, How much Resin and what type of cloth, (1708, Biaxle,6oz,10oz.) do I need?
Stringers;
2@8"x13'x3/4", 2@13"x16'x3/4", 2@14"x10'x3/4"

Decks;
2@2'6"x12'x3/4", 1@6'x6'x3/4", 2@2'6"x7'x3/4"

Cabin Raise;
2@8"x6'6" with a 3" top lip, 2@8"x3'6" with 3" top lip

Bilge and additional Bulk heads;
2@4'x8'x3/4"

I know a lot of you guys/gals, have done stringer,floor repairs, so any estimates would be appreciated.
Lack of recent glass experiece on my part= +10% materials:o

I'm not spoiling your fun with the math so just sum the total volume you are doing.
Glass weights 2.5 times more than water and resin about the same as water, and both resin and glass you need equal amount oz/oz...

Most hand lamination comes out to about 33 to 38% glass so the weight of the resin is twice that of the glass.

Thanks for the info guys,but now I'm really confused. I thought I had it figured out to be about 28 linear yds of matt, (1.5oz. x50" wide) and then 30 linear yds of 6oz.?x 38" wide. Would that mean, that I have to weigh the matt, say it weighed 25lbs., then divide that by 8.65lbs., (weight of one gal of water @ this alt.) to determine how much resin to buy? + 10% of course, for my inexperience.

You had that right for chopped mat:D Especially for someone without much practice..

I just returned from the only dealer I could find, Ind. Plastics, in Edmonton.
I took a diagram of what I was doing, and indeed my measurements/calculations were short!
This is in CANADA, so the prices won't be what our southern cousins are getting!

1.5oz. Mat 50" wide x 102yds= $237.60, 6oz. cloth 60" wide x 55yds= $416.95
25gals. Poly Resin= $697.45, 1.5lbs. Chopped Strand=$18.69, 2.2lbs. Cabosil=$37.82, 1.5lbs. Micro Ballons=$19.99 1ltr.Catalyst (MEKP)=$21.58
Total today $1481.59:eek:
The salesman figures I should only be back 2-3 more times!:D:D

NOTE; NO Acetone,Rollers,Trays,Mixing tools........:eek:

For straight lamination with biax or woven products it can be in the 1-1 range, but the wood will absorb a great deal of resin so that needs to be added in, which brings it back to about 1-2.

So much depends of cloth weight, wood species etc. So I believe you if mean strip canoes.. With thick cloths I'd stay 1/1. With local soft woods here (pine 'n fir) it's not an issue except with end grain...
