Top Coat Material for serial production with epoxy and female mould

hey guys,

What is the best top coat materials for manufacturing serial boat with Epoxy which I can use in female mould.

But I want to remind again,I am doing serial production with female mould.The problem is generally gelcoats are polyester based ant they don't stick with epoxies as you know.

Vinlyester and epoxy gelcoats are mat and colours are changing after a while.

And making paint application after demoulding the product, is to much cost,labour work and time for every boat.

What are your suggestionsss ,PU in mould coats,some polyester gelcoats like sicomin.. etcc.Please specify brand name of the productss..

Looks like no one has said anything so here goes.

It may be your term Top Coat that scares them off, i assume that you are referring to the gelcoat, the first layer that is used in the hull of a female mould, as you do use this term in some places of your question.

You can use good quality polyester resin based gelcoats (Scott Bader in your part of the world would be able to help) as the first layer, the vinyl ester and epoxy resin that will follow are quiet compatible to the polyester resin based gelcoat substrate. It is when you try to put poly over epoxy that the problems may start.

Talk to one of the better resin suppliers Gurit, ATL etc. There are systems available now to get around this issue. Basically they're modified epoxies for use on the first few layers.

Or just forget the top coat and paint with 2comp poly when done.. mmmmuuuuch better..
